About Maura

I am a Brooklyn-based writer, and a graduate student at The New School for Social Research. My academic work explores the cross-section of the social sciences and narrative nonfiction writing; an area where I believe much quality journalism lies.

Originally from western Mass., I studied Sociology in Ohio, and after graduation in 2006 set out straight on a zig-zagged path that included stints in Chicago, Marrakesh, Maine—where I studied nonfiction writing at The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies—and Brooklyn.

I also write articles and copy for blue chip media companies and financial service firms through The Writing Company. Clients include The Wall Street Journal, CBS, and Money Magazine. Copy available upon request.
